A complete class on Lost Wax Casting from wax carving to polishing. Includes equipment,tool and supplies list. Covers centerical casting, vacumn casting, and steam casting. Every aspect of casting is covered from working with wax, sprueing, investing (mold making), rubber mold making and cutting, burn out, casting, cleaning and polishing.
Lesson 6, Burn Out for only $8.99.
After the flasks have been poured and the investment dried out for two hours or more, it is time to burn out the
models. The method I use does not different too much for wax patterns or natural objects. I load the kiln with
the flasks, sprue button end down so that wax can run out on to the floor of the kiln.
Lesson 5: Investing for only $8.99.
I will cover two ways to invest your waxes. The first will use a vacuum caster for debubbling the investment
before pouring it into the flasks. The second method describes how you can invest with out the cost of a vacuum
caster. Air bubbles on your castings will cast as if they were part of you design. So getting rid of bubbles, or not
letting them form in the first place, is a major concern of investing. Most bubbles will “twist” off with a pair of
pliers after casting, but preventing them is important.

Lesson 4: Spruing for only $8.99
“Spruing” is the term used for getting the waxes ready to cast. It is the first step in making a mold for casting. Of course
it could be waxes, natural objects, or anything else that will burn up and you want to cast. It is the act of attaching the
patterns to the rubber sprue base in preparation for investing them (making the mold).
